I’m pretty certain that most of the people reading this right now are in pretty good shape. You eat right. You work out. Get plenty of sleep. And, you are disciplined in every way possible. Kudos to you if you are. One of my biggest regrets is that I wasn’t serious about exercise when I was growing up. Now I’ll have to work 2-3 times harder to “catch up.” You might ask, “Why bother?” Because I think it’s important for everyone to be ready for whatever lies ahead. How can they help someone else in a major disaster if they can’t even help themselves? We have no idea what lies ahead. If someone is overweight, they won’t be able to move fast or have the stamina needed to travel far distances on foot. If they’re sickly due to poor health habits, they might not be able to keep up with the demands put on them in disaster situations. Disaster or not, it’s important to be in the best shape we can be.
So, when you see posts with the picture above, you will know it has something to do with getting “body ready” for whatever comes our way. Trust me, I don’t especially look forward to this discipline, but will do it because it’s important to survival, possibly mine and others.
